TN: 2013 Giuseppe Rinaldi Nebbiolo Langhe (Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC)

  • 2013 Giuseppe Rinaldi Nebbiolo Langhe - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC (7/22/2022)
On the nose, it’s more on the red fruited spectrum of nebbiolo with cherry, some balsam, tar, and roses. Mid weighted and graceful on the palate with more cherry fruit, florals, balsam, but with some cured meat and leather adding to the whole on the palate. I like this style of Langhe nebbiolo where it allows the fruit and nature of nebbiolo to speak rather than making a baby Barolo. That said, this not a glou glou wine. It has nebbiolo backbone but it’s delivered with a nuanced, softer hand. Finishes with lovely balsam and floral perfume and firm, fine tannins. It is nebbbiolo after all. This is drinking well right now and a last glass saved for day two gained a little more fruit and perfume. Lovely.

Paired very well with a simple prep of tajarin with Alba white truffle salt and butter. (91 pts.)
