TN: 2012 Weingut Max Ferd. Richter Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese

I rarely regret my vinous infanticides, but this one was truly a faux pas. Despite its golden yellow color this remains firmly in kids’ boxed juice mode. A hint of kerosene upon opening fades away to dominant notes of canned pineapple, apricot jam and white chocolate. Subtle hints of grassiness and minerality. The palate is very sweet and suffers from an acid deficit at this point (electric acidity would have put this on a whole different level at this stage). I paired this with chicken curry and it took a beating. Ironically I did drink practically the whole bottle, since it’s 35 degrees Celsius in Lisbon, Portuguese people don’t have AC and I’m feeling under the weather. I’ll check on the leftovers tomorrow, with the expectation that it will take at least another 10 years to warrant the 40€ price tag.
