TNs: 12 Dom, 09 Yquem

Birthday dinner at meat and potatoes:

2012 Dom:

Still firing on ALL cylinders. White flowers, a hint of peach, and lightly toasted baguette on the nose. Lithe acidity and a kaleidoscope of flavors on the palate with a super long finish. I think this is drinking superb right now and the jury is out on whether the 08 or 12 will be better in the long term but it will be hard to keep my hands off these with how they’re drinking.

2009 Chateau d’ Yquem

From half:

Interesting counterpoint to the 01 from last year. Apricots, overripe pineapple, and ripe Georgia peach on the nose. Unctuous palate with immense depth, power and elegance. A bit more robust than the 01 right now but with a bit less elegance and transparency. Finish is endless. With foie gras this was nearly life changing. Clearly one of the best Sauternes ever made.
