TN: 2013 JB Neufeld Old Goat

A wine that makes you stop and appreciate it, but is still a pleasurable experience

This wine is still very much on the ascendancy - has not reached a plateau. Still very lively acid, and tannins that are mostly integrated but present. Not rough, or grippy, just not fully integrated. Fruit is beautiful, not overripe, but out front. Some secondary notes, particularly on the nose. If I had another bottle I’d wait 5-8 years on it. Loved the wine.

Nice note. Any idea what the vineyards for 2013 were, I know he has used Red Willow, Artz, and Two Blondes over the years.

Good question. My recollection from looking at the bottle is all Red Willow, but I’m not 100% sure and I already recycled the bottle. Definitely was 100% cab.

Anyone had the 17 lately?

From CT - not on the bottle

But I read a review from a Seattle wine contest where it stated Artz Vineyard

That’s probably right then - credit that article over my memory 100% of the time - especially when there’s documentary evidence to the contrary
