DICO and Ridge with friends

Seeing close friends we hadn’t seen in a few months, we opened a couple of bottles:

2021 Ridge Lytton Estate Rose: Pop and pour. No formal notes, but this was an easy sipper. I like this bottling year in year out.

Moved on to the DICO with our burgers.

  • 2019 Di Costanzo Cabernet Sauvignon DI CO - USA, California, Napa Valley (6/26/2022)
Decanted for 2.5 hours. Pours a deep ruby red. Dark fruited aromas, think blueberry and black cherry, along with a spice/dust component. Big fruit quickly corralled into a short and smooth finish, closing with finely grained tannins. Smiles around the table as we made quick work of the bottle. This is clearly young but what an enthralling wine for the age and price point.
