A few recent TNs (3 champagnes and a riesling)

  • 2014 Champagne Suenen Champagne Grand Cru “Les Robarts” Extra Brut Millésime - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru (5/25/2022)
Very tight, angular, and austere on opening. Peach, pickled mango, grapefruit, white flowers and chalk. Disgorged Jan 2021; 2g/L of dosage.

  • 2016 Bérêche et Fils Champagne Grand Cru Ambonnay - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru (5/25/2022)
Very mineral. This dichotomous blend of power with lightness and delicateness. Lovely. 100% Pinot Noir from Les Toures. Disgorged Jul 2021; 4g/L of dosage

  • 2018 Weingut Keller Abts E® Riesling Großes Gewächs - Germany, Rheinhessen (5/25/2022)
Restaurant purchase. Decanted for ~90min prior to consuming. Very expressive from the get-go, but with even more air, and as it warmed it, it began firing on all cylinders, with the fruit profile on full display. Asian pear, casaba melon, ylang ylang, lime zest, freshly opened can of tennis balls. Incredibly precise, with individuals note ringing clearly. Hard not to like this wine. Even my sister who tends to struggle picking out wine flavours and aromas say things, was picking out the individual components with ease.

  • 2012 Robert Moncuit Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Vozémieux - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru (5/25/2022)
Very young and tight. Apricots, lemon-lime. Full bodied. Fermented in stainless steel and allowed to go through full malo and finished with 3g/L of dosage. Best days are certainly ahead of it, at the moment, this is crying for time in the cellar.
