A first bottle of the 2005 Marcel Deiss Engelgarten Bergheim lacked a mid palate but the sweetness I suppose matched a foie gras appetizer adequately enough.
A second bottle was opened, however, and a very different story: grip, poise (certainly a mid palate), with sweetness but matching acidity for balance.
Notes of orange peel, bergamot and wet stone made it special. “Drinkability” high!
A blend of grapes including Pinot Gris and Riesling. 12.5% alcohol. Residual sugar seems like 10-12 grams per liter.
