Exactly. Though my buys were quite small overall. There were two additional wineries where I was planning to buy, but one was offering wines I already own, and the other could not ship to me.
Do what Congress does, take the amount you wanted to spend and subtract what you actually spent and claim the difference is savings. Or event better, call the difference “budget cuts”.

I exercised serious self-control this year. My plan was to only get Kelley Fox and Patricia Green. That became even easier as I did not see Patricia Green participating this year. Then I got a sixer of Biggio Hamina Riesling for “cooking.” Then I got a case of Sabelli Frisch for “cooking.” And of course I needed a six pack of Grassi Champagne glasses. Then I knew my wife and I would enjoy Somm TV instead of bottom fishing on Netflix. Finally, I told her about Smoking Goose Meatery. She sat down and an hour later had created a huge ala cart order. So really, it is mostly her fault. But to get out of BD13 alive at only around $1k? Victory.

I displayed amazing restraint this year…6 of Oddero Timarasso (care of Stereophonic), 9 Kelley Fox, 6 Erica Orr, and 6 Paetra…for a total of 27 bottles. Was hoping to score some Beau Rivage, but I don’t think William’s got any wine to offer. Had to keep reminding myself of upcoming Ceritas, Sandlands, and Bedrock offers. I came, I saw, I conquered (my addiction, as well as I could expect).
Excellent tip, I’ll tell my wife that it’s all about our gay friends drinking too much every time we get together for dinner, plus she loves wines as much as I do (but somehow she manage to complain when ai buy too much)
I focused on varietals that I don’t have a lot of at present, and stuck reasonably close to my budget. Very happy to have the opportunity to add some variety to the cellar.
