I tried this one after it had been open for a day. I finished off the bottle on the third night. I must say, I’ve never had a wine this good from Damilano and so felt compelled to post about it for other folks who may skip over Damilano wines.
2015 Damilano Barolo Liste - saturated garnet color. very dense aromatically - not an aerial wine but earthy with hay-covered,leathery red fruit and hints of anise. on the palate this has a broad but focused feel. i’m so accustomed to damilano wines being underfilled for the structure present but this was harmonious and balanced and really quite concentrated! on both day 2 and 3 the acidity and tannin still shape the wine but unobtrusively, letting the texture really please in a “serious” way i would consider classical for Barolo. i’m pretty staunchly traditional for nebbiolo and this scratched every itch. at roughly $75 retail, i consider this pretty good value and will pick up a few more. 94pts.
