    Rich, tropical. Maybe a touch cloying? A good scheurebe but lacks the magic that HGS evoked from the grape.

I know there are a few other Muller-Catoir heads out there, but as someone who arrived to them after HGS’s retirement, what differentiated his Scheurebes and Rieslaners from the Martin Franzen era?

Awesomeness.

Intensity, depth, complexity, and magic.

Those two sum it up for me.

Well, in all fairness (and as a gross generality) 2005 as a vintage produced softer wines than 2001 or 1998 (two heralded M-C vintages) so that might account for some of the cloying sensation.
