TN: 2020 Schäfer-Fröhlich Schloßböckelheimer Felsenberg Riesling Großes Gewächs

Grapefruit, white peach, faint tropical notes (passion fruit and mango), white smoke, and crushed rocks on the nose. The wine is dry and focused, with a little spice on the backend, framed by an amphitheater of saline-rich minerality and smoke. There is great dry extract with flavors of limeade, grapefruit pith, underripe peach and pineapple, and sea breeze, with a lingering saline finish. My favorite of the three 2020 GGs from Tim that I’ve tried so far (Kupfergrube and Stromberg being the other two), and one that I’ll likely get more for the cellar. (94 pts.)
