I purchased a bottle in last November’s auction, my only bottle in storage, and just received a notice that storage charges would start on January 1, 2022. I thought that they provided six months grace period. Did I miss the change?

I think it’s when they changed their storage company. Now you only get first month for free

Great way to make money from climate change, where shipment during warm months is especially risky.
Go under Shipping and Storage. Click on Storage Forecast and there it will tell you how much grace period you have for each purchase. Charges are not immediate for all bottles starting January 1.

In general I think it is fine to charge for storage, particularly in cases where people are taking advantage of free storage
But it does rub me the wrong way to buy something in early summer and get a notice that storage charges will start hitting in the heat of mid summer.
Choosing to not ship during the hot of summer is not really a choice.
