TN: 2006 Quinta de Lemos Dão Dona Santana (Portugal, Beiras, Dão)

Initially somewhat dominated by oak notes, but after decanting it for 3h and warming up some those notes integrated well into the wine. Dark dense and rich fruits. Black cherries, saddle leather, habano tobacco. Full bodied with plush tannins and a good acid structure. Drinking at the height of its maturity. Will likely stay here fore a few years to come. Solid value.

ABV: 13.5%
Closure: natural cork
Stem: Gabriel Glas StandArt
Decant: 3h (would have done 1-2 more, but my guests were thirsty)

There’s a limited edition 2006 wine from Quinta de Lemos, just released, as an homage to chef Diogo Rocha from the Mesa de Lemos restaurant. Stunning: amazing structure, still too young for prime time drinking, and they’re selling it for under 20€, which is a joke. That being said I have never been smitten with the general house style of Quinta de Lemos.

Thanks for the info. Haven’t had much of Quinta de Lemos to know their style much.
