  1. UntiVnyds Segromigno DryCreekVlly (14.2%; 85% Sangiovese, 15% Montepulciano; similar to Rosso Piceno; 1102 cs) 2014: Med.color; bright cherry/Sangio/spicy light earthy/dusty some Am.oak/vanillasome Italiante/rustic some Zin-like/raspberry fairly attractive nose; fairly tart/tangy/slight metallic some earthy/dusty/loamy rather cherry/Sangio/bit rustic/Montepulciano some vanilla/Am.oak rather tangy/rustic flavor w/ light tangy tannins; long rather tart/tangy/Italianate/rustic Sangio/cherry bit vanilla/Am.oak finish w/ light bitey tannins; speaks of Sangio grown in the DryCreekVlly w/ slight DCV Zin character; an interesting pleasant expression of Sangio but just that. $28.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. Massican is the label for Italian wines made by DanPetroski. He was the winemaker at LarkmeadWnry up in Calistoga for 15 yrs but has left that position to focus on his Massican label. Not sure where he will be making his wines. In general, I like his wines quite a lot as a very good expression of the Friulian style.
