TN: 2019 Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie La Joie du Palais

Boy, this is serious Beauj. Made in a “Burgundian” style, certainly; you still get the character of the Gamay grape coming through, but it’s dense and layered, with lightly candied dark cherry, tilled earth, and graphite minerality on the nose. There’s lots of structure here, with palate weight, chalky drying tannins, and a flourish of pepper on the finish. More than enough lift and freshness to carry the substance.

This could easily be cellared for 5-10 years. A Pinot lover’s Beaujolais. Delicious and brooding.
