2000 Oliverhill Maclaren Vale Jimmy Section Shiraz

Back in the Marquis-Phillips days, this was one of my favorite Aussle wineries. I had not had one these in over a decade and really didn’t know what to expect. It still had plenty of fruit, mostly blackberry and maybe a hint of green tobacco. What it did not have, and what I don’t particularly care for, was a strong balsamic characteristic that I find often present in older Shiraz. A damn enjoyable wine; not cerebral but tasty. I guess if Shiraz from this era don’t necessarily gain a lot of complexity with age, they do hold remarkably well through the years.
