Just received the EABA and Grenache. Does anyone know which wine is in which tissue paper? Once I unwrap them, I can never get them looking as nice again.

Drank plenty this year, just bought a lot more than I drank. That seems to be a recurring theme around here. [cheers.gif]

Need to pick up my allocation from a friend in IL, since they don't ship to Wisconsin, unfortunately. Once I have them in a week or so, I'll crack one for good measure! :)

Haven't received a shipping notice, but I think it is only now cool enough to ship to the DC metro area. Anyone else in the same boat?

EDIT: Five minutes after posting I have a shipping notification. Not that there is any coincidence, BUT....not complaining! [cheers.gif]

Jordan -

I can’t find the release emails, but I can tell you my orders were placed on 12/3 in 2018 and 2019 and on 12/4 in 2020. I probably ordered same day if I had to guess.

Edit: Actually, because these are locked allocations for some time, it’s very possible the email came earlier which lines up with Jeff’s note above.

Received mine yesterday at the local FedEx Office. My first allocation! Got 3-pak EABA and Grenache. Can’t wait to try. Any idea when I should open them up? Wait a few years? Thanks.

Frederick, maybe wait a week and then feel free to try one. Give them plenty of air and expect them to be much better on the 2nd and 3rd day.

Of course it’s best to cellar for 5 years, but if you can’t wait…..

i think they're always more seamless with a little more time, 3-5 yrs.
but with it your first allocation, id pop a cork in the am and then 2 hrs before drinking throw in a decanter.

And the 2019’s have had some nice reviews from both vinous and wine advocate. Interesting that Lisa always loves the Mouvedre and Galloni isn’t as consistently crazy about it. Beyond that they both have similar reviews. I like to buy this wine as there aren’t too many high quality examples of this grape.

Also, 2019 Paso Robles syrah is a new wine being released. Not sure if it’s this or the next offer.

It's not just Paso Robles, it's G2 single vineyard. It's interesting, however, that there's no G2 in the main Syrah blend. I wonder if the G2 just didn't mesh with the main blend or if it was just so special that Jim felt it deserved its own bottling.

Woah - this should be cool. G2 is getting a lot of solid press lately. I believe Turtle Rock's G2 Syrah just got 100 from Jeb.

I have to think Andremily is going to explode with new vineyard additions. Having estate fruit is a game changer. Curious if they continue sourcing from the same vineyards and adding estate fruit or dropping the sourced fruit and migrating to just estate.

the latter is certainly more logical.
gibbs certainly does some top shelf farming so g2 seems like a good fit but there is certainly a lot of competition for that fruit. the 'new' estate vineyard certainly has a lot more varieties planted, probably too many (albarino/tempranillo). no mouvedre online so keeping sourced alta mesa fruit makes sense.
i don't see a lot more skus coming. there was certainly a mention of a white already, not sure when that's coming.

He could end up like Saxum with his estate bottlings and then a smaller collection of sourced vineyards, which is all fine by me. They are going to be an interesting winery to follow and of course enjoy these bottles over the years.

certainly an interesting comparison. jbv (planted fruit) obviously almost double in size to SH so selling fruit is likely impractical but the model you described makes sense, especially in the short/medium term if some replanting occurs.

Is the G2 a 3-pack? I am guessing so, but the allocation makes it seem like a single bottle.

The MAG is priced at $225, so yes, it has to be a 3-pack.

i see what you mean, but i'd be shocked if it wasn't.
The MAG is priced at $225, so yes, it has to be a 3-pack.
Ah, good point. I was reviewing my cart and didn't even look at the mag pricing. Good call.

Did the prices just go up to $110/bottle? Didn't they go to $105/bottle just recently. Maybe I'm misremembering.

Price in the spring release was $105 a bottle, previously $93. Up to $110 a bottle. Shipping was high as well, $76 for a case to SoCal. I imagine they are adding the packaging costs to the shipping total.

No wonder I thought it was a speedy rise. He's not even waiting a full year to raise prices. I'm not trying to argue against his business decision, but it was swifter than I expected.

They don't ship to Kansas, but luckily I'm not too far from Missouri...does anyone know if you can ship directly to a FedEx location for pick up? Saves the hassle of shipping to a friend's house and making sure they are home to sign.

97-99 from JD. Don't think I am supposed to copy the notes from his pay site.

These allocations are typically guaranteed for a week or so, right?
