TN: 2012 Edmunds St. John Syrah Fenaughty

  • 2012 Edmunds St. John Syrah Fenaughty - USA, California, Sierra Foothills, El Dorado County (5/13/2021)
Normally I am prepared to wait 15 years before drinking an ESJ Syrah, but I grabbed this, and just said what the heck. Wow, am I glad I did. This was aiming to please from the first sip, and it took immense restrain to not blow through the whole bottle. There’s plenty of fruit, and still some tannic backbone, so no worries about holding, but please do drink one if you have any. It’s lovely now.

Was it under diam cork?

Really enjoy Steve’s wines, The Gamay and the rose I can find but the rhone styled stuff seems harder to come by.

Yes, DIAM.

I order direct from Steve.

Very nice…I have one bottle of the 1999 left that still has years of life in it based on my last taste of it.

A little different, as this one didn’t have the Wylie component.

I need to do a little digging, as I also have a ‘99 W-F somewhere. No rush.

as David said, theyre normally in stock through his website. Chambers also has a couple bottles of Syrah lately

Oh, yes…I did miss that. I plan on opening my last bottle in 2024 sometime.

Such a pretty, terroir driven, wine. My last bottle was just perfect, a little while ago. Thanks Steve!
