TN: 2019 Morgen Long Chardonnay Eola-Amity Hills

#1 Post by Brian S t o t t e r »

Ordered a mixed case of 2019 chardonnays from Seth after being very impressed by the couple 2018 bottles I sampled. This Eola-Amity Hills bottling is a blend of 50% Seven Springs vineyard and 50% X Omni vineyard. Consumed from a Grassl Cru glass.

Flint/matchstick on the nose, leading into lime zest, underripe Granny Smith apple, ginger, mint, and crushed rocks. With some air (Seth told me to decant, but I already had the wine in the glass), more lemon/lime oil and baking spice notes waft from the glass. The wine is bright on the palate, with good tension and shimmering acidity, yet delicate and fades gently with citrus flavors over a long finish. My first go at the 2019 Morgen Long wines, can't wait to try the rest. (94 pts.)
