Required 4 hours in the decanter and 2 hours in the glass, just as in the previous taster’s note. Darker translucent scarlet ruby hue. Nose of balsam, voluminous rose petals and violets, strawberries, iodine, and camphor. Layers of tarry black plum, cool strawberry, and deep sweet earth unrolling on the palate like a delicious carpet. Beautiful acidity and firm but fine tannin. Long finish of anchored plum fruit, tar, delicate sweetness, and quenching freshness. Tasting this is a gift. (94 pts.)

I assume this is still very young.

John,

Yes definitely, it showed young. It was accessible and already excellent after the lengthy decant, but kept improving in the glass so I was only too happy to give it more time. Cellaring for 3-5 years yet (or an even longer decant) would be my thought.

Cheers,
Doug
