Alba Robinia Oak Barrels

Any winemakers have any direct knowledge or experience aging wine in Robinia barrels or Acacia??
Robinia is pseudo Acacia, also known as black locust. It grows in the Eastern USA. Also grown in Central Europe, primarily on the Istrian Peninsula. Apparently Steve Canter at Quivira has worked some with it.
Is it the next big thing in oak barrels?
Tom

Tom, Goodfellow uses Acacia barrels for certain wines. Marcus commented on that in the thread linked below.

A cooper told me that when you pressure tested acacia barrels for leaks, about half the staves had to replaced.

Of course, if acacia barrels became popular for wine, the question remains: where would the wood come from??
