WTN: Markus Molitor Riesling Beerenauslese '05...(short/boring)

Had this with dessert (Pistachio/Candied Ginger Bark) with friends at Pig+Fig Fri night:

  1. Markus Moliter Moliter Riesling Mosel/Saar/Ruwer (Pradikatswein; Beerenauslese; A.P.Nr. 2 576 609 35 07; EB; 7.0%) Zeltingen 2005: Deep golden/burnished bronze color; very strong botrytis/peachy/apricotty some R/floral/mango slight earthy quite complex beautiful nose; rather tart quite sweet (15%-20% r.s.?) very strong botrytis/peachy/apricotty/ripe peach some R/floral/mango slight earthy quite complex beautiful BA finish; very long/lingering fairly tart quite sweet very strong botrytis/peachy/apricotty some R/mango/floral complex finish that goes on&on; very good acidity to balance the sweetness; the R fruit still comes thru; beautiful Mosel BA that will easily go another 10 yrs.

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. Quite an impressive BA that’s starting to show some maturity but will still go out a lot longer. Unlike many Calif BA/TBA’s in which the botrytis totally obliterates the fruit, this still had a lot of R fruit showing thru. Beautiful BA.

I’m a big fan of MM dessert wines, but I need to get some more, especially some with a bit of age on them.

Where did you get this wine, Tom? Can’t find any, from any vintage, on wine-searcher.

Also, I think the name is “Molitor,” not Moliter.

Might this be the MM Zeltinger Himmelreich BA *? When I google the AP Number, I do get hits for that. If so, there are a few bottles available internationally.

Don’t recall where I got this, Larry. Probably locally, probably Kokomans. I had two hlf btls, so I probably liked it, tried it, and bought two more
hlfs. Probably because the price was attractive.

I haven’t had many Beerenauslese but actually had this one last year. Served to some friends who like sweet wines. Minds were blown.

There are a couple MM BAs on winebid now
