TN: Two Whites w/ Roman & May...(short/boring)

#1 Post by TomHill »

We had these two whites w/ Roman & May at dinner last night:
1. Corte Gardoni Greoto Dd'OC: Custoza/Veneto (12.5%; KermitLynchImprts; Garganega/Trebbiano/Cortese/ManzoniBianco) Corte Gardoni di Piccoli/Valleggio sul Mincio 2019: color; rather earthy/stony/chalky precious little fruit rather quiet nose; lightly tart/tangy/metallic/slight grapefruity light stony/chalky little fruit flavor; short some tangy/metalliclight stony/chalky no fruit finish; a pretty vapid/nothing/undistinguished wine; classic Oakland wine; this is how they would make CharlesShaw ThompsonSeedless in the Veneto if they could; overpriced at $17.00 (SFW&S)
2. Ridge GrenacheBlanc AdelaidaVnyd/PasoRobles (77% GrenacheBlanc/18% Picpoul/5% Roussanne; 14.0%; bttld June 2020; Drk: 4/20-4/25: EB) 2019: Light gold color; quite attractive low-key/quiet lightly floral/honeysuckle/gardenias/GB slight earthy rather pleasant nose; bit soft some pencilly/oak light floral/GB/honeysuckle/bit honeyed rather quiet flavor; very long lightly metallic bit soft light floral/honeysuckle/GB/gardenias light pencilly/oak finish; an attractive/pretty GB but rather on the quiet side & overpriced at $40.00 (SFW&S)
A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Ridge GB: I was a bit disappointed in this wine. Their first GB was pretty outstanding w/ lots of fruit & intensity. This rendition was somewhat on the quiet/low-key side. It may put on weight w/ time, but not at all sure.
