TN: 2017 Domaine Marc Morey & Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets

  • 2017 Domaine Marc Morey & Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru (3/10/2021)
Once you get past the matchstick reduction nose and palate notes, the wine melds into a sexy beast. Laser focused yellow lemon type fruit on the nose leads to a gloriously full palate that is loaded with firm minerals. The finish is so sexy and long.
The equilibrium of fruit and acid improves with air and time. Crystaline. A terrific Chassagne Caillerets. One of my favorites along with Vincent/Sophie Morey.

Sabine seems to be at the top of her game.

Yes she does and I don’t understand why the wines don’t get more love here. Personally, I generally prefer the Ev Virondot to the Caillerets and it’s generally cheaper as well. So didn’t buy the Caillerets in 2017 and I am regretting that now.

I had some real premox issues with this producer about a decade ago and gave up. I may give it another try.
