Nebbiolo Pruning Time-2021
Nebbiolo Pruning Time-2021
This is a very good video made by Stefano Moiso and his wife, Elisabetta, of La Vite Turchese in Barolo featuring Lorenzo Scavino of Azelia. Lorenzo demonstrates his pruning methodology in their San Rocco vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba.

Thank you Michael. Azelia is one of my favorite Barolo producers. What is interesting in this video, among other things, is that Lorenzo Scavino highlights the fact that although the Azelia winery and homestead is in Castiglione Falletto, 4 of their 5 crus are located in Serralunga (Bricco Voghera, Margheria, San Rocco and now Cerretta).

Yes, seems there was a soft spot for Serralunga and funny to hear how even with a more open minded (grand)father it took some time before the moment to break the news came.
Didn’t have the opportunity to try their wines yet, however Serralunga is special and really like the wines from there. Beautiful there as well.
I also found it interesting to hear a bit more about how he thinks about the pruning and the key consideration there (focus on two years at the time during winter pruning).
