TN: Saint Aubin 1er Cru Aux Murgers des Dents de Chien 2013 Domaine Jean Chartron

I see Jeremy’s 2013 Caillerets and (don’t quite!) raise him a St Aubin! This is my penultimate bottle from a case and it’s quietly, yet assuredly, bloody lovely.

Surprisingly youthful pale gold, still struck through with a glint of green. Aromas a complex and subtle - orchard fruit, a hint of nougat and some orange blossom representing a more exotic character. Definitely secondary on the palate, with more of the slightly tropical notes - touch of apricot - but held together by impressively snappy acidity. Mid-bodied, with a hint of honey towards the finish, this is cresting its wave of maturity. It doesn’t have the focus of the best vintages but is impeccably balanced and satisfying - punches above its weight.
