TN: 2005 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut

Generous and giving with patisserie notes couple with citrus, peach and mineral. It is full and creamy. Acidity is relaxed but the wine is fresh and vibrant. The finish has a suggestion of chalk and is persistent.

Anyone have a recent note?

No Holmes-worthy notes. But I’ve had a couple in the last year, and my wife has also opened a couple with friends. Every bottle was open and delicious, and the 05 is in a great place right now. At age ten I called this “very good if not great”. At age 15+, it’s moving towards greatness. A friend in one of my wine groups with an excellent palate (CT=Rocknroller) has had two bottles in the last year and his notes indicate he loves them. I’m a fan of 05 Cristal.

Jeremy, Thoughts on 2002 Cristal, purchased a bottle from K&L, late release direct from Roederer? Are they trying to be like Dom with P2, P3? Fan of Cristal.

Hi Dave,

had the 2002 from Magnum last year (original release). Simply brilliant!

Jeremy

I just opened the 12. It’s good but not great. Super tart with lemon flavor. Super acidic as well. These need at least 20 years.
