2009 Comte Armand Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Epeneaux - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard 1er Cru (1/25/2021)
The nose is opulent and ripe and matches my expectation of the vintage. It’s not jammy, but is an exuberant array of ripe berries and stone fruit. The palate has some of the sweetness implied by the fruit but also some autumnal earthiness and slight herbal bitterness that cuts through the sweetness. The finish is probably the weak point here, with plenty of young tannins and a bit of an alcoholic burn. Delicious nonetheless, I don’t intend on visiting this again for a few years. (93 pts.)
