TN: Two Swiss Whites....(short/boring)

Tried these Sat afternoon:

  1. Caves du Ch. d’Auvernier Neuchatel Blanc Ad’OC: Neuchatel/Suisse (11.5%; Dreyfus/AshbyImprts; Chasselas grape) Thierry Grosjean & Cie/Auvernier/Suisse 2017: Med.gold color w/ some tiny bubbles on the surface like a film; light earthy/dustylightly floral/Alpine white flowers lightly spicy light mineral/stony rather interesting/complex nose; bit dissolved CO2/prickle light earthy/dusty some floral/Alpine white flowers light mineral/chalky/stony fairly interesting flavor; fairly tart/tangy light earthy/dusty light Alpine flowers slight pineapply/R-like finish; showing some evolution but quite interesting for a light-weight white.

  1. Les Terrasses Fendant de Vetroz Suisse (12.5%; Chasselas; Frmtd: SS tank; www.JRGermanier.Ch; SchatziImprts/Milan/NY) Gilles Besse/Winemaker; Jean-Rene Germanier/Vetroz/Valais/Suisse 2016: Lots of tiny bubbles that dissipate; med.gold color; beautiful floral/carnations/Alpine white lightly herbal slight nutty/mature/spicy bit earthy fairly complex quite aromatic nose; quite tart/tangy bit nutty/mature strong floral/Chasselas/Alpine flowers/carnations lovely mature flavor; very long/lingering lightly nutty/mature/herbal some stony/mineral fairly floral/carnations finish; showing some maturity & probably should be drunk up.

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. We had Sue down for a mid-afternoon lunch of beef filet and cheese fondue, so pulled a couple of Swiss wines from the archives. They both performed pretty much as I expected…worked well.

Don’t think I’ve ever had a Swiss wine and I’m surprised I never X’d that box on my BINGO card.

Sounds interesting, may have to make that a 2021 imperative.
