TN: 1998 Flavio Roddolo Barolo Ravera (Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo)

Upon opening, a fully mature nose with some bouillon, ferrous and undergrowth notes. Over an hour or so, the fruit and perfume woke up, with an expectedly darker side of nebbiolo fruit, rose petal, more ferrous and balsam notes. On the palate it is mid weighted and balanced, with subtle power and a sense of harmony, while maintaining a little rustic edge that I like in this producer. Perfumed and savory. With more air time, the rose and medicine cabinet perfume really grew. It’s fully mature at this point, and for some it may be a little on the back side of peak. Outstanding, but I will drink my remaining bottle sometime soon. 91 (91 pts.)
