Anyone had this?

2018 Štoka Izbrani Teran

I noticed it made the wine house sf top 10 list

No, but I love Benvenuti’s Teran. It’s earthy, tannic, and a bit wild, without going too far in the natural direction. Reminds me a little bit of Aglianico.

Had the 2015 and for the price (eur10) it was a quite good wine. However, there are better Refosk wines out there.

Wine House must have chanced upon a deal and now have to move it. [snort.gif]

Surprised you are asking about a non-Burgundian wine. I’ve never been a fan of teran in general so would probably not seek it out.

I’ll chime in as someone who sold this wine at retail in a previous life. It’s a very concentrated, rustic and regional wine. The flavor is like sour cherry, blackberry and game combined with a good amount of acidity. I don’t believe it is oak-aged. I always thought this would be a good wine for smoked meats, rustic stews and charcuterie. I would compare it to more frank and forward expressions of Dolcetto or Barbera d’Asti as wines that are a bit more well-known. I liked it very much but probably would only drink it a couple times a year.
