TN: 1997 Quinta da Gaivosa (Douro, Portugal)

This has peaked. Evolved mahogany color, rather cloudy, with a nose dominated by heather honey, figs, some dark prunes, cigar box and a hint of shrubs. Beautifully fresh and vibrant on the palate, quite persistent though on the elegant rather than powerful side of things. 13% ABV. Not as complex and satisfying as Alves de Sousa’s higher level bottlings, but a lovely experience nevertheless.
