TN: 2016 Peake Ranch - Pinot Noir "Sta. Rita Hills" (USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills)

A couple brief-format tasting notes. Hopefully, when taken together, they give a broad overview of how this wine is drinking at present. [cheers.gif]

– tasted non-blind over 1.5 hours –

Soft; red-fruited. Oak is noticeable, and a little stronger than I’d prefer, but it doesn’t ruin the experience. Nut funky; medium+ acidity; not tannic; 14.2% alc. is well-hidden. Drink now and over the near term. Gut impression score: 90

Ripe, but not gloppy or overblown. Medium bodied. Has a lot of “warm spices” character that I frequently notice in Pinots from this general area — similar to, but different than, the cola aspect present in many RRV Pinots.
