2007 Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo

Another wine worthy of sharing some notes:

2007 PRODUTTORI del BARBARESCO RISERVA RIO SORDO BARBARESCO- this is made by a cooperative consisting of 56 growers in Barbaresco founded in 1958; they released their first Riservas in 1967; the 2007 Riservas saw 4 or more weeks on the skins and spent a total of 3 years in oak while being racked and aged in varying sizes of barrels over that time; this is my 3rd bottle of this wondrous Nebbiolo and all have been really good, albeit early on in their life span so a long decant is more prudent although I only went an hour for this one; the color is a pure dark purple; the aromatics are so inviting with spicy, wild blackberry, black raspberry, black currant and black cherry, all of which continue on to be joined by a nice touch of blueberry and an accent of dark chocolate; the staunch underlying tannins experienced toward the back end provide a backbone that ensures longevity and are a few years away from being fully integrated; there`s so much to like about this wine now with its layered depth and complexity, subtle power and eventual finesse and its wild dark fruit profile.

"In victory you deserve Champagne. In defeat, you need it".
Napolean Bonaparte

“Remember gentlemen, it’s not just France we are fighting for, it’s Champagne!” – Winston Churchill
