Post number 34! Unless you have another friend that hunts gators it is a wine berserker. But I do owe you some notes. And for the record there is another wine berserker who hunts gators not far from where I hunt which was very cool to find out

So pretentious! ;). And you so know that is beyond my humble self.

But, it is a Juris Doctorate. So Dr. Alfert suffices.

The 1982 Haut Brion is my WOTN, easily in that 98-100 point range, with the 2001 Haut Brion and 1982 Magdelaine just a notch below, but not much. The other wines are similarly stunning.
Happy birthday Robert!

I notice you didn’t say much about the 2010 Pavie; was it also similarly stunning? neener
Pavie? Wtf? Who the f*ck brought a Pavie to my house!
Yeah! What a wimp. I would have brought a Saxum Mag and a Scarecrow, with a Next 9of Kyn mag as a side dish.
Yes, that's a DM of 1978 Mouton!

Happy Birthday! Funny that the first label that caught my eye was the Pavie-and my thought was "I can't wait to see what he says"....then no comment at all LOL! We had a '98 Haut Brion recently that was spectacular, never had the '82. Sounds like an epic evening-thanks for posting.

Happy Birthday, Robert. Sounds like a fine bunch of wines.
The Haut Brion and Magdelaine 1982 are two of my favorites, and an interesting combination.

Happy birthday! Nice "general impressions" [cheers.gif] Notes like these written by you are what got me into wines like Olga Raffault, Levet and Sociando.
Also, 55 is pretty young! It's the new 45. I thought you were closer to 65 (based on your photos and Peloton stats) neener

By my calculations, less than 12% of the red consumed at this shindig was Cabernet Franc. A minuscule fraction.

Happy birthday! But demonstrations of Loire fealty are called for.

Hey Matt great to hear from you, miss you coming to Orlando with more regularity. Would absolutely love to try the Vatan rouge, been looking for that bottle for quite some time. Coincidentally, just last night I popped a Francois Cotat Rouge, a really interesting expression of Pinot Noir.

Hey! I did the same a couple of days ago (2016 Francois Cotat Rouge) and will be posting a picture and tasting note to Frank's charity thread soon. It was weird, got lots of rasberries and papaya [scratch.gif]
