TN: 2001 Karthäuserhof Eitelsbacher Karthäuserhofberg Riesling Spätlese Auction

  • 2001 Karthäuserhof Eitelsbacher Karthäuserhofberg Riesling Spätlese Auction - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (11/19/2020)
This is really delicious. Deep and rich while bright and elegant. A bit of spritz hits the tongue and there’s a little element of passito like it’s a baby (and slightly - only slightly - less intense) TBA. Perfect balance and, to use a technical term, yummy. Bought on release and properly cellared.

Spatlese that’s baby TBA? Yowza. Hard to plan for that!

Nice. I’ve consistently enjoyed this producer’s wines. And, for the very little it’s worth, I like their understated labelling.

I liked when they kept their various vineyards separate, although I do understand why they blend them.
Have a few bottles left of the nonauction 1990.

I have never had anything from this producer. I will have to give it a try sometime. If Maureen says it’s delicious I have to give it a try. Thanks for the excellent notes Maureen! [cheers.gif]

Fun, I will have to check it out. thx

I drank all my 2001 Spatlese a long time ago. I remember this one to be a nice QPR. I either drink too young or too late! Thanks for the TN Maureen!

Not in sweetness. Texture and a dried berry element.

That sounds even stranger.

See Maureen. Adding yet more competition. I hope you nailed down a supply before posting.

For me cellared Karthaüserhof is soo special. But thats only me I hope

This wine? Only two more bottles. 2001 spatlese? Only a little more than 5 cases left. 2001 German riesling? Only about 11 cases left.

I don’t have the German wine collection David has. And apparently I cannot write a TN to please him. Sorry.

Not at all. I am just trying to wrap my head around what this wine must be like. Remember that I am not a collector/drinker of Karthauserhof to any degree.
