Tried this Fri night w/ Grayson & Roman:
1. Carlisle TheDerivative f'(x) SonomaCnty WW (13.8%; 65% Semillon + 25% Muscadelle/9% Colombard/1% Palomino; 260 cs) 2018: Light gold color; very fragrant floral/figgy/Semillon/slight green olive/almost R-like beautiful aromatic nose; lightly tart/tangy very strong floral/figgy/Semillon very perfumed lovely flavor; very long/lingering very strong floral/Semillon/figgy/bit Friuliano-like almost R-like/perfumed finish; a bit atypical for Semillon and almost like a R or Friuliano in character; will most likely put on weight and improve over 1-5 yrs; a lovely aromatic white. $24.00

1. My Carlisle futures arrived last week, so couldn't resist trying this white. Mike doesn't get a whole lot of recognition for his whites, but I think they are every bit as good as his reds. Calif (& HunterVlly/ClareVlly) Semillon tend to be pretty acid (and oaky, sometimes) and a lot of figgy/green olive tapenade character. But they age awfully well. This Semillon is very light on its feet and loads of aromatics, more like a R or a Friuliano.
Mike was a math major at PomonaCollege, where he met Kendall. Hence The Derivative. He also makes an Integral wine as well. Fortunately, Mike discovered wine & winemaking and the entire wine world is much the better for it. Otherwise, he'd probably still be doing complex contour integrals in Banach Space in some dead-end math job!!
