TN: 2015 Rhys Bearwallow Vineyard Chardonnay

I’ve been wanting to try Rhys’ wines for awhile now but they rarely show up in our market; when this was offered I jumped on it.

Greeted with beautiful, delicate aromatics; wet stone and saline minerality, lemon curd, white florals, and just a shaving of almond skin. So, so energetic; the texture on the palate is beguiling, with piercing citrusy acidity but somehow maintaining an attractive oily texture and breadth/weight that belies the freshness and low ABV%. With a little bit of air and warming, there’s a lovely light crème brûlée note on that comes through. A stony, perfumed, lightly woodspiced finish. This is seriously, seriously good and I think the acidity will carry it for many years to come.
