Decanted 8hrs. Extremely expressive right out of the gate, aromatics of deep, dark plums with a rosy edge. The darker hue and general nature of a warm / hot 2015 Bordeaux would suggest perhaps a bit of a beast in the glass, but that couldn’t have been further from what I tasted. While there was an immediacy of dark cassis fruit, it was the perfect level of ripeness to be both fresh and inviting; the balance between tannic structure, acid, and oak – seamless. And as many have noted, a special elegance in terms of a weightless palate that solidifies that Haut-Bailly hit a home run with this one. Well, well done. (94 pts.)
