Fun facts about this obscure Rhone grape that Tablas Creek has brought to the US. One of the rarest grapes in Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation at just over 10 acres1, Vaccarèse accounts for just 0.3% of the appellation’s acreage.
We find it from time to time in old-vine vineyards here in California. Last place I found it was at Saitone Ranch in 2011. Gave cuttings of it to FPS to clean up and to add to their collection.
