Popped a #69 “Pride” off the truck today, and decanted for a few hours. First thought was uh-oh this is looking a bit light in color for Pride, Wow the nose is really great though. Aromas are really exploding right now and in that intoxicating way that Exudes some class. Deep red fruits leaning to some black but not heavy or a sense of too much extraction. Really really nice on the front side here and the wine shines here. Oak seems in check, it’s there but Not poking its monster head out. The finish is a bit weird for me though, as some mint (interesting) then bitter comes through. Also I have to say if your alcohol averse I found it really poking out quite a it overall but especially on the finish, it’s a bit hot.

That said it’s a quality wine imo whether it’s Pride seconds or whatever and certainly a Good deal at the ~$20 all in. Once again I’m seeing this as something in between the Stated winery price and the paid price, which I guess isn’t such a bad outcome thus far.
I thought OG 68 was possibly Pride. More than one?

I tasted 70A two nights ago, and was extremely impressed! Perfectly balanced, aromatic, diverse, and delicious. Notes of blood orange, black and red cherries, red currant, rose petals, tea, and wet rock all competed for my attention throughout the bottle. Pinots are my thing and I would have been just as pleased with this one at $75 a bottle.

I followed it up with 70B last night, and unfortunately had a completely different experience. Nose... nothing really, maybe the slightest hint of cherry. On the palate... cherry, so much freaking cherry. Red cherry, black cherry, and cherry cough drops. The only other thing I could consistently taste was the alcohol. It has a similar abv to 70A, but clearly not as balanced or impressive. This is the first Denegoce wine that has genuinely disappointed me. I’ve had 4, 15, and 70A and loved all three. All these presented at the very least as excellent buys for their price point. However, if 70B doesn’t improve (gonna give the rest of my 70Bs a year in the bottle and a proper decant), I can honestly say even at $15 a bottle, I know I can find better pinots elsewhere.
Opened a 70A as well and it's drinking fantastic right now, very surprising for less than 2 months in the bottle. Given your negative experience with 70B I'll let it sit for a while, hopefully it will come around.

Anybody brave want to try out 70D right now? IIRC, that's the one that got the best reviews in that vinography blog post.

Popped No. 70, D Blend tonight. These are the Willamette Valley, OR Pinot Noir Chehelem Mountain Clonal Cuvee Blends. Wow. One of the better Pinot's I've had in awhile. Bright Fruit, mouthwatering acidity as stated in the offering. Full body, long lingering finish. Some earthiness typical of OR pinot but fine balance. This checks all the boxes! I would guess a $50+ wine. It was advertised as a $65-$85 wine from the estate. I would pay the $16 plus tax and shipping all day. In terms of price, yes this is a cellar defender, but in terms of quality, this is a wine you would be happy to pour to impress your friends over for dinner. It's that good.

Cracked an N.50 last night in the name of science. Walla Walla cabernet. Opened in the a.m. after taking delivery and let it sit for the day. This is a serious wine. Dark in the glass with lots of black fruits. Great structure. Obviously way too early to drink but glad have 11 more of these to enjoy after some time in the bottle.

Received the 46 this evening. Met the driver with wine-opener in hand. Pop-n-pour. Not going to attempt a note but will say I thoroughly enjoyed and, more importantly, so did the wife. Definitely young but lots of upside. Will buy more if it comes available. [winner.gif]
I have been waiting for a 46 tasting note.

Could not resist and popped No. 78 tonight. The Sexy, Supple and Sophisticated Napa Cabernet offering from De Negoce, hailing from near the Howell Mountain AVA region. Great classic notes of forest floor, mint, eucalyptus, cedar box and black cherries. On the palate, things get a little shy and backwards. Some tannin up front, but nothing rolled back over the tongue, it just fizzled out. That being said, I can flesh out the plush and mouthwatering blueberry pie and nice velvety texture and smooth tannin with tons of aging potential. Excuse the innuendo but similar to rounding 2nd or 3rd base and not getting to home plate. To be expected...revisit her in 3+ months and surely she will be more welcoming.

Popped an OG 62 Russian River Chard the other night. Not there yet, but I think this has the potential to be really good in a year or so. Very balanced style and not over oaked at all.

This is great. For $13 all in? Incredible deal. No Napa Cab in the supermarket is going to drink like this under $35 or $40.

i have thus far tried three:

#61, Dry Creek Zin: already halfway through the case. It drinks exactly liked I'd hoped it would. I expect it would only get better given a little extra time to mature, but strongly doubt that more than 1 or 2 of them will make it to the new year. Exactly what I'd wanted from a dN wine.

#48, Russian River Pinot: it was a little wound up right out of the bottle but after an hour's worth of decant it came around very nicely. lots of fruit--im hoping that will mellow a little with time.

#56, Anderson Valley Pinot: the only misfire thus far. The Nuke Laloosh of pinots, it's all over the place to me, I'd hoped it might be more coherent than it was.

so to sum up: delighted with 61, very happy with 48, and 56 gets sent back to the shed; it has some work to do.

all disclaimers about early consumption go here.

i have stowed all my dN cab till the new year. might bring out one of the #70 blends for Thursday.

#40 - shared blind and thoughts were all over, but positive. Deep purple in color. Dark black fruits, floral notes, vanilla, and cedar. Good structure but tannins are very young and a bit ridgid. I think this will mellow out with a year or so. Long finish. Poured half in a decanter as wasn't sure outcome and planned to let it slow decant in bottle overnight (this did not happen and was finished off instead). Amazing wine and QPR easily blows the low $20ish all in price out the water. Excited to see where this goes, especially as a Diamond Mountain fan. Probably won't open another for at least a few months, if not a year.

Have tried 5 DNs so far: #8 (Veeder Cab), 15 (Merlot), 16 (Sauv Blanc), 25 (Spring Mtn Cab) 36 (Pride Chard). I'm a "casual" drinker so probably meaningless for the aficionados here (and no way I can do tasting notes), but we've really enjoyed all of them, exceptional value. The whites are probably easier to recognize as awesome value right now, both drank beautifully and a clear step above our typical $10-20 whites. The reds are a bit tougher at this phase but we thoroughly enjoyed #8 and #15. But #25, opened last night for 1 glass, was the real standout to me - thought it drank like >$50 cab, albeit again it's super young and I have no idea what I'm talking about. Will see how it fares on night 2 tonight.

One review for # 41 on CT, called it syrupy and Caymus like. Not surprising given the write up by Cam as a full throttle Parker style wine. My case is onits way...

If it's really confected then pinning it on Borschen needs to be re-examined because it doesn't really sound like them.

I am actually glad this matches his description, I bought it for that very reason. Mostly to open during parties, but also, I do like a Parker--full throttle cab from time to time.

Opened up a OG1 tonight. Now I know there have been mixups with this wine regarding shipping and people are anxiously awaiting receiving this wine. This is my third bottle opened. First two were opened soon after I received the wines and to be quite honest the wine was meh. Not wonderful, not horrible but the OG 2 (which I had received about the same time) was significantly better.
This wine tastes nothing like a Cabernet Sauvignon. It reminds me of a weak Pinot. Unable to drink! Went down the sink! I believe I have 6-7 bottles left ( I may have given some away).
Happy to sell my remaining OG 1s at cost plus shipping. PM if interested. Serious offer!!!

OG - 6 Cab - Decanted for 2 hours. Either bottle or me variation. Not nearly as good as the previous one.
OG - 12 - Chard - My sixth bottle. I thought the 1st was good. Since then I've not been digging them. Not offensive, but not interesting either.

If you think that a Cabernet Sauvignon tastes anything like a Pinot, you're probably way too used to Parkerized fruit bombs.

If you think that a Cabernet Sauvignon tastes anything like a Pinot, you're probably way too used to Parkerized fruit bombs.
Or...maybe the wine just sucks.
Considering pretty much everyone else has really liked it and thought it tasted exactly like a cab, seems that is unlikely and much likelier this issue is particular to the reviewer (nothing wrong with that, everyone's palate is different).

Wife and step-son cracked the case and had bottle #1 of No.49, Alexander Valley Cab Sav.

Opened a #41 at Thanksgiving. My casual wine drinking family loved it. Me? Not so much. It was like drinking a blueberry milkshake. Oh well. I’ll have some Christmas gifts that I know will be appreciated.

As I indicated in my previous comments, I will be more than happy to send you my remaining bottles at cost ( plus price of shipping) if you think this wine is wonderful. I find your comments insulting and I am not sure why you feel that you need to defend Cameron Hughes OG 1.
I have liked the OG 2 the OG 17, and the OG 27. The OG 1 sucked (and I know what a good Cabernet and a good Pinot tastes like).
The OG 1 did not look like a Cabernet, did not taste like a Cabernet. It was not drinkable! I find it amusing that because unnamed people liked the wines ( generally people who have no idea what they are drinking will LOVE wines that someone tells them are “good wines”.)
Again, since you seem to be in love with the OG 1, I am offering you a great deal. PM me and I will send you my remaining OG 1s.
You sound like someone who knows a great deal about wine and I look forward to providing further enjoyment for you in the future.

I saw one post earlier, but has anyone else popped a #50 Walla Walla Cabernet? I just got mine and weighing the “science” justification vs being patient.

I received mine today and popped and poured it. Loved it, in fact I bought another case today.

Lol is this a joke? This is one of the more ridiculous, obnoxious posts I think I’ve seen here. I said the vast majority of people liked this one and though it tasted like cab, thus it was more likely that the one very negative review was more of an outlier. Your post is basically saying that you are some master of wine tasting whose lone opinion should trump all others? And I also went out of my way to say it in a respectful way and point out there is nothing wrong with your opinion, as wine is subjective and everyone may experience things differently.

I have not tried the wine myself, and while sure I’d be interested in a few at cost, there are now plenty others available with free shipping and frankly I don’t even want to go near dealing with you on a transaction

I'm not Michael, but I assumed he was responding to Chris Crutchfields comment. If that is correct, I actually thought his response was pretty spot on/reasonable given Chris's post was, IMHO, totally uncalled for and (as Michael mentioned) insulting

based on today's re-offer, I decided to pop a No.43, 2018 Napa (Oakville/St. Helena) Cabernet Sauvignon (thought to be Boeschen). Decanted for 2 1/2 hours, this is quite a serious wine, of that there can be no doubt. Powerful nose black current, graphite, violets. Quite tannic and tight on the palate. The one thing that gives me pause on ordering another case is the slight barnyard notes I'm getting. I suspect since this was only recently bottled that this is reduction, rather than brett, but it does make me go hmm... Will be interesting to see if it blows off.

Fwiw I don’t think 43 is Boeschen - that was just #42 (it’s a mailing list only $100+ wine, supposedly). 43 I think was supposed to be Mondavi or something?

Eric, I opened #43 mid-week, last week, and your notes are right on, but I didn't get any barnyard. I'd have to guess this is reduction and not brett--but I'd feel the same way if I detected any, as well. It does seem to be a serious, and quality wine. Hopefully the bottle to bottle consistency is there...

Eric, I hate barnyard, and I detected a bit in the #43 on first tasting and then it was gone. I was very impressed with the wine. Came across my palate as first class Napa Cabernet. Surprised by a couple of unenthusiastic reviews on Cellar Tracker. This is exactly what I hoped for when I started buying de Négoce.
