Back home in WI and I decided to open a few bottles I had in long term storage.
Krug 164:
The mighty Krug 164 is again monumental. Lemon zest and brioche on the nose, rich palate presence with ample acidity, lovely finish. Multi-decade aging potential and it’ll continue to get better but is fantastic now.
2012 Laurent Roumier Clos de Vougeot
Orphan bottle I bought from winex shortly after release. Relatively unknown scion of the Roumier family who has a slice of CV. No CT notes, so going in blind. This far exceeded expectations and was lovely, with beautiful aromatics, fine tannins which opened up a bit after 30-60 minutes open, and an elegant finish. Stellar.
2001 Lafaurie-Peyraguey
Has 01 concentration and overripe pineapple and creme brûlée on the nose, a little short on acidity and moderate finish. Not up to the level of the top wines but still enjoyable.
