Decanted 2 hrs. Though the aromatics started off quite nicely, my first few sips had a lot more oak than I was expecting. After about an hour of drinking, the wood backed off, and it was clear there is very solid material lurking beneath. Pretty black cherry and some cassis vie for attention, solid earth and tannins, nice combo of sweet and savory, respectable back half and finish. Definitely too young right now, give it 3 to 5 years to settle in. I don’t think though, this will touch the Ferguson vineyard, which is by far my favorite from the folks at L41. (91 pts.)
