My case arrived today, but just barely. My previous 4 shipments have all been in sturdy styroshippers, but for this one, they decided to use a very thin-grade recycled cardboard shipper that was completely disfigured and basically broken down within the box. I am honestly shocked my wines arrived in-tract, but glad they did.

Probably will wait a few weeks to pop one, but excited to dig into them this fall!
They used these non-styro versions here in the Northeast before it turned warm, looks like end of August they're returning to the cardboard shippers. At least they still include the ice pack.

The saga continues. They contacted me again to send me new bottles after mine broke in transit after mentioning they couldn't do anything for me prior.

It sounds like there is a wait-list and you should contact them if interested. They mentioned they are sourcing more bottles of it.

That makes more sense. The sourcing more bottles of it is lol, like Harlan/Screaming Eagle/XYZ have extra barrels hanging around after WineAccess sold probably 1000 cases (it took days to sell out after tremendous hype). The whole thing is hilarious. I'm trying this tomorrow, will report back.

But isn't Wineaccess the "source"? The description made it seem like WA acquired the grapes and hired a winemaker to make the wine for them.

Also, 2002 Musar was added. Not a wine I expected to see on WineAccess.

Yes, but they were very vague with who blended it but it was ALMOST CERTAINLY WA. But if you read the Radio Silent pitch:

https://www.wineaccess.com/catalog/2017 ... _20003079/

They are not at all coy about them being the blender.

But my only point was, how much excess juice would this $500+ winery have to where they have already sold 100s if not a 1000 cases and now going back for seconds? It's all rather odd. I do not think they are lying (it's called fraud) but the whole thing is odd.

At least people universally like the wine.

Yep, wasn't trying to push back on your point. Really, I was just adding another possible POV to only strengthen the idea that it's all very strange, since how could WA acquire more juice if they're the source? No matter what, the taste is what matters, especially for a bulk label, and the wine seems to be pretty great. Hopefully there's not a situation where the newer batch tastes much different from the original.

I think the idea would be they got more barrels from the source then blend it themselves? But the whole thing is bizarre. They not getting the grapes. It's 2018 wine. With Radio Access they did get the grapes it seems. They were pretty clear there. Not sure why they wouldn't be here.

They also charged less for this than that! Prob cost them more to make the wine from scratch w/ Radio Access vs. just buying the bulk juice with YESTERDAY.

And yah, my concern is what you wrote...that the 2nd batch doesn't taste like the 1st!

Had a bottle last night and I agree that it is quality. I'm not a big Napa cab drinker, but really enjoyed it. Really disjointed after an hour or twoof air but massively improved after over 4-5 hours. Bought six, but wish I had 12.

Yah I don't get these "deals". 2015, 2016, 2017 widely available at cost.

Yup,Yup.
Wine access generally sells their wines at or above what other sites are selling the same wines for. What makes it a “deal” is money off $100 or $200 that they occasionally offer and it really becomes a deal stacked with an American Express offer.

I usually look for a good deal + the free shipping makes it a great deal. Teeter totter for $65 is same as their list, but free shipping makes it great. Geyserville for $40 is a little bit better than being a Ridge member and buying direct, again the free shipping puts WA on top.

Anyone familiar with the Ferrer Bobet Vinyes Velles? Looking to use the $50 off $200 and would like to try some non-US/French/Italian wines. At ~$26 with the coupon seems like a very good price for a strong producer. The De Martino Viejas Tinajas Cinsault at $24 also seems interesting.

any thoughts on the 2018 Editorial cab? Noticed they also have the 2016 Editorial in the shop (which, interestingly, they claim to have bought back from American Airlines). Vivno reviews seem pretty lukewarm, I'm inclined to pass and stick to De Negoce for these types of offerings

2018 Editorial cab:

Our journalist friend who inspired Editorial wines is fond of saying that he’s just another ink-stained wretch—a dinosaur biding his time in the digital age. But his Sinatra-like Rolodex and knack for making introductions tell a different story.

Earlier this year, he set the table for us on another hair-raising Napa deal. Our foot in the door, we bargained for some of the most famous and historic Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville—an estate that’s supplied grapes to Philippe Melka, Helen Turley at Pahlmeyer, and Joseph Phelps’ Insignia.

With terroir of that pedigree, these bottles usually price out at $279 a pop—no surprise there. But we’ve tapped the same estate vineyard, and brought that transcendent Coombsville concentration down to just $40 per bottle for our members, and just $35 on cases.

2018 Editorial sounds like Farella Vineyard. Farella's current Cabernet release is $65, so not sure this qualifies as "another hair-raising-deal." Quite possible that these are grapes that did not make the cut, so $40 is about right.

Anyone know if they ever “renew” the Amex offers? I used mine up (3 in total), but would very possibly use more if given the opportunity.

Phelps is 100% estate. They are not selling their grapes to the other guys.

Phelps was not 100% estate when Insignia was introduced in 1974. They bought grapes for many years. Farella was founded in 1977. Entirely plausible that Farella sold some fruit to Phelps at some point.

Coombsville wasn't a thing until recently. Phelps has gone 100% estate for many years before Coombsville got AVA status.
The wording suggests that it's an ongoing thing. Had supplied vs has supplied. Plausible, but do you really believe it?

So if I refer somebody and they make a purchase do I get a straight $50 or is it just another $50 off of $200 coupon? It's kind of hard to tell reading through their website.

Pretty sure it’s Caldwell Vineyard.

Just bought a bottle of Antica 2016 Cab to taste side by side with the Stay Home Cab. Will let you all know this weekend if we have a match.
Any thoughts yet or too soon? [thankyou.gif]
The order from wine.com got lost in the mail, so my experiment is on indefinite hold unfortunately.

Andrew: Yes, it appears to be Caldwell. They sold to Phelps and Pahlmeyer. Farella website mentions selling to Pahlmeyer but not Phelps. Good call.

Anyone know if the 2016 editorial is the same source as the 2018 editorial?

The 2018 editorial sounds like it’s a completely different source from the prior vintages.

Amanda McCrossin, who had posted some videos about Radio Silence and Yesterday cabs posted another video on Instagram about Editorial. Sounds like it’s a different profile from the others, but she says very high quality. She compares the profile to Mayacamas and Promontory.

Here is the link to her post.

She responded to me on IG--said the 2016 and 2018 are not the same source.

Man, what do we think about this? I actually have a lot of credits but am I really going to buy 4, 6, 12 of this? So far she has only fronted for the best private label stuff on WineAccess. They have a lot she has not reviewed.

EDIT: Easy compromise here. I got 3, exactly $120, free shipping. And I don't feel guilty about not hitting the price breaks.
