This is how everyone gets burned on the next iteration of this, and its a dud.

Glad it worked out. Sounds like I should have bought; Will push my FIL to open one together when the show up in the fall.

Anyone try the previous Chad Cabernet, Oakville that just went up? Unfortunately Yesterday is done so curious of this is a good deal.

If you have a $100/250 promo, score a 168 Krug for $100 and 6 Matrot Bourg Blanc for WS Pro low of $20. What a world.

Not a bad idea, unfortunately I've been holding the deliveries since it's like 100ish in Texas where I am. Notes would be 1-2 months late [cry.gif] Sounds like they did a previous release of this stuff though so curious of anyone had that

This is funny. But yah, they do so many private labels I don't think they all should be considered the same. I mean they might do 50 a year.

Not sure this is the same wine as before. I bought a few months ago CHAD "2018 Chad Private Reserve Red Blend Napa Valley". It was pretty good. This looks different. I've had good success with CHAD in the past but I only bought the higher end ones. Used to buy a lot years ago but WineAccess stopped carrying it, probably because there wasn't oversupply.

But McCrossin said it was $500+ juice. All indications are that’s not true. No one was saying you were going to get ripped off at 20 per, but it’s absolutely correct to be skeptical that a company is selling $500 wine for $35 less discounts

For those that took advantage of the Amex $50 off $150 wine access deal, who was listed as the merchant? My charge says Kachina Cellars and I'm concerned that won't trigger the offer.

Sure, be skeptical. That video was ridiculous. But many of us also purchased it because there were enough data points to believe it would be a substantially better wine than $20 or $35. And it seems like those data points were right. I don't care if it's $500.

Another vote in favor of the Yesterday mystery wine.

"Arrival day for Yesterday cabernet. Excitement, curiosity and lack of self control resulted in opening one right off of the UPS truck.

Gorgeous ripe sappy red fruit that is rounded and weightless in the mouth. Amazing purity here. Finish loaded with sweet spices and BBQ smoke. Decanted for 8-hours as this was super tight upon opening.

This needs time, but will really be worth some patience. Thanks to @wineaccess for this unbelievable offering. Thanks to @sommvivant for such a great video intro to this unique "shiner" project."

For palate reference, here are "RockinCabs" CellarTracker tasting notes:

Yah, I'm arguing it's worth substantially more than $20 though. This is the same debate we've had for months over in the de Negoce thread. For a host of factors, I never thought it was worth $500. There is a giant window between $20 and $500 though! And it seems, based on the first 3 reviews, it is indeed worth substantially more than $20. Is that number $75? $100? $200? Based on the first three reviews, seems more like $100-$200. That's a heck of a bargain!

Thanks for sharing this review. Even though Amanda’s video may have come across over-exaggerated, but as I mentioned previously, I do trust her palate when it comes to Napa wines.

Whether this bottle is actually worth $500 is somewhat subjective, as I’ve had mailing list $200 cabs where I thought they were worth <$100. As long as Yesterday tastes good (which so far reviews seem to point to) and punches above it’s class, I would call it a worthwhile investment.

A few more positive reviews coming through for the Yesterday cab. Most have been reposted by @sommvivant from IG stories tagging her, so I can't post notes here, but no disappointment to be found, yet.

I bought some of Wineaccess' NDA "Yesterday". Tried it with friends and family. Black fruit, plum, tobacco, spice, graphite, vanilla, and finish was very long. At this point in time I can't say it's a $500 wine. Maybe $75-$100?

Based on what everyone's saying it sounds like a 2nd wine which makes sense if theyre bottling someone else's juice.

Agreed! If you enjoy it try Stay Home, it needs more air and a touch of heat on the finish if you don't decant it but for $20 can't beat it.

Not sure what happened, but the ups message said the entire package was discarded haha. Would not want to be the one to clean that spill up.

My buddy ordered a case as well, so will bum a bottle from him. I have stayed away from the budget offers this year and interested to see how it goes.

I was thinking the same thing and just waited till i found something I wanted. I just used it for a Krug. Considering its been about a month who knows when/if it expires so I would plan on trying to find something soon.

I know this is more appropriate in Commerce Corner, but I figure it will get much more views from the relevant audience here. Anyone want to sell me Yesterday? I'll pay above retail. Happy to delete this if it violates rules.

Any idea when the newsite promo expires?
Email them. In my experience they are very responsive. Really wish their selection was broader (the domestic off-label stuff holds no interest to me and the bdx tend to be the more new-world style); I'd do more business with them

If I was in NYC I would give you one...but I'm on the other coast. I'm sure you can find someone in NYC that would let you have one at cost.

Appreciate that! Thankfully I have 5 more, so I'm not looking for just one, trying to get a few more for my cellar.

My case arrived today, but just barely. My previous 4 shipments have all been in sturdy styroshippers, but for this one, they decided to use a very thin-grade recycled cardboard shipper that was completely disfigured and basically broken down within the box. I am honestly shocked my wines arrived in-tract, but glad they did.

Probably will wait a few weeks to pop one, but excited to dig into them this fall!

FWIW, Here's the latest:

Dear Mark,

I said it first last year: I go to countless meetings, tastings, and trade events as CEO of Wine Access—but when I drink Andy Erickson and Annie Favia’s Carbone Red Wine, I do it purely as a fan.

Our last offer made a ton more out of Wine Access members, who adorned it with dozens of four- and five-star ratings. One member hailed it as “Fandrastic” (which we can only assume means “drastically fantastic”) and another showered it with some serious caps-lock love: “PHENOMENAL wine. Layers of red fruit, smooth tannins. LOVE this wine, surprised it is drinking so well so young!”

That sums up Carbone: With its vibrant nose of black fruit seasoned with bay and allspice, firmly structured tannins, and long and persistent finish, the 2018 is not only ready to dazzle right now, but will also age beautifully over the next two decades. Raised in a vintage that’s getting nothing but early raves, it boasts all the pedigree you’d expect from the talent behind Screaming Eagle, Arietta, Favia, Dalla Valle, and Ovid, and drinks like it costs double its $75 price.

Like only the greatest Napa Cabernets, it does the impossible by balancing density with grace, fruit intensity with complex herbal notes, and near-term drinkability with fantastic cellar potential. This is the fourth vintage of Carbone, and I’ve loved every glass I’ve ever had.

Click here to add the 2018 Carbone Red Wine to your cellar.

Having put out some of Napa Valley’s most incredible triple-digit-priced wines and racked up 100-point scores and countless accolades, Andy and Annie are settled on their ranch in Coombsville. And now that they’ve returned the vineyards to glory and painstakingly restored the house built in 1886 (working in the tiny but fully updated ground floor cellar), they’re making the exact wines they want to make.

The 2018 Carbone Red Wine is a perfect expression of Andy and Annie’s ethos—and their limitless skills. Dominated by rich and deep Cabernet Sauvignon, it’s rounded out with beautifully aromatic Cabernet Franc. After aging in 50% new French oak for 22 months, it’s exactly the kind of red wine that made Napa Valley what it is, made Andy and Annie superstars in the Valley—and made me a massive fan from the start.

I’ve never been less than blown away by this superstar couple’s Carbone Red Wine, and I’m thrilled to share this spectacular vintage with you today. I can’t wait for you to try it.

Sincerely,
Joe Fisch
CEO, Wine Access
