Tried these Rieslings over the last 2 weeks:

Riesling Dr.Thanisch Feinherb (Q; A.P.Nr 2 576 742 01 17; Dry-style; www.Dr-Thanisch.De; Winesellers/Niles/IL) Erben Muller-Burggraef Cllrs/Bernkastle-Kues 2016: Med.light gold color; very strong R/mango/pineapple/floral classic Mosel valve oil/flinty/steely beautiful perfumed complex nose; fairly tart/tangy steely/flinty/slatey slightly off-dry (0.2-0.4% r.s.) very strong floral/R/mango/pineapple strong Mosel valve oil/bit pungent/petrol classic Mosel beautiful flavor; very long/lingering rather tart/tangy strong floral/R/mango some Mosel valve oil complex finish; a beautiful expression of a Mosel R that should go another 4-8 yrs; stupid/silly price of $15.00 (KK)
________
2. AlfredGraf Riesling ErdenerTreppchen Spatlese (QmP; A.P.Nr. 2 576 280 0097 18; 7.5%; ScopertaImprts) Weinkellerei Ehemalig Kurfurstliche/Bernkastel-Kues 2016: Med.light yellow color; strong floral/R mango/pineapple light Mosel valve oil/slatey fairly classic Mosel/R attractive nose; fairly sweet (1.5%-2.0% r.s.?) strong floral/R/pineapple/mango slight slatey lightly tart/tangy fairly rich/lush pleasant flavor; very long bit tart/steely/slatey somewhat sweet bit simple finish; a pleasant enough Mosel R but just that; should improve over the next 10 yrs but will probably never be a great Mosel R; reasonably priced at $15.50 (KK)
_______
3. Weingut Max Ferd.Richter Riesling WehlenerSonnenuhr Kabinett (QmP; A.P.Nr.2 593 049 09 19; EB; 8.5%; ShiverickImprts) Mulheim/Mosel 2018: Light yellow color w/ small bubbles on sides of glass; strong floral/R/mango/pineapple slight slatey/flinty/Mosel valve oil/bit pungent bit complex nose; quite tart/tangy/bit metallic off-dry (0.8%-1.0% r.s.?) fairly rich/lush slight flinty/Mosel valve oil pleasant flavor; very long off-dry strong floral/R/mango/pineapple light tangy/metallic slight Mosel valve oil finish; a fairly rich/lush Kabinett and should be better in 5 yrs but not terribly profound; fairly priced at $25.00 (KK)

__________
A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Kokoman got in a bunch of new German Rieslings and these are some I've been tasting thru.
________
2. Dr.Thanisch: I was pretty much blown away by this wine. Shows an unusual degree of Mosel valve oil for a wine this young.
________
3. The Dr.Thanisch and the NikWeis are beautiful examples of Mosel wines at stupid/silly prices. Likewise the Leitz is a great price. The Knebel is probably the best of the foursome but a twice the price, but very fairly priced. Those are the four that I purchased more of.

Excited to see that you got to try one of the Rieslings from my home town. They tend to be under the radar. Let me know if you’re interested in a couple more Rems Valley recommendations.

Danke …

July 2020, some relative disappointment :
Nik Weis St-Urbans-Hof Riesling Mehringer Alte Reben 2016 : 15/20
Frais et aromatiquement mutique, si bien que j’ai pris sa fadeur et sa minceur pour celles d’un muscadet. Si l’on se concentre, on devine un peu de menthe et de citron vert. 11,5° d’alcool.
