TN: Two With Dinner....(short/boring)

We tried these two last night w/ our Tofu Belly:

  1. Pilota Hondarrabi Zuri Dd’O: Getariako Txakolina Basque WW (11%; www.Txakolina-K5.com; ClassicalWines/Seattle) 5 Mahatsondo/Bodega K5/BasqueCountry/Spain 2016: Med.gold color; light apple/pear/pineapple earthy/chalky/bit mineral fairly fragrant quite attractive nose; quite tart/tangy/steely/metallic light floral/apple/pear/pineapple bit chalky/mineral/saline very tangy/bright flavor; very long tart/tangy/metallic/steely/saline light pear/pineapple finish; a rather pretty/attractive lean/bright/saline expression of Txakolina at a fair price. $20.50 (KK)

  1. Nusserhof Elda VinoRosso (12%; Schiava/Vernatsch; Louis/Dressner Slctns; 95 yr old vines) Heinrich Mayr/Bozen/Sudtirol NV (L2014): Med.light color; quite earthy/dusty/OV/very loamy light black cherry/licorice/Schiava bit complex nose; fairly tart/tangy/bit metallic/lean light black cherry cola/licorice/Schiava quite earthy/loamy/compost pile bit vegetal/rustic rather interesting flavor w/ light tangy tannins; very long rather tart/tangy/metallic light licorice/black cherry cola/Schiava finish w/ light bitey tannins; a rather interesting/pleasant if rustic expression of Schiava dominated by the loamy character; rather overpriced at $41.50 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. Mayr: This is a “natural” wine producer, yet is relatively clean and no natty character to speak of, though dominated by the earthy/loamy character. They also have a Ty wine priced at $52/btl. It is made from Tyreldego and, given my interest in that variety, will probably spring for a btl to try. I’m confident it won’t hold a candle to a Foradori.
