TN: 2019 D. Brand Riesling trocken (Germany, Pfalz): summer happiness in a glass.

Limpid golden green in color. It’s incredibly bright fresh and clean on the nose. Kaffir lime leaf, cooling green herbs, white flowers, and apricot pit on the nose. Electric fresh with a chalky, mouthwatering freshness on the palate. It’s weightless, lifted and gossamer. Very Saar like. Peach pit, lime, more florals, chalkiness, with brilliantly balanced crisp fresh fruit, soil, and acid, all with fantastic clarity and purity. Like drinking mineral water. This is technically dry, but the snappy fresh fruit gives a sense of some sweetness. This is an effortlessly beautiful, gulpable wine without artifice. To boot I love the 1L format and 12% ABV. Possibly my favorite summer wine of the year. This no vin de garde, rather a vin de joie. Delicious. I cannot think of a more perfect wine for a hot summer day.

This was happiness in a glass. Not the most complicated, but one of the most simply delicious wines I have had in some time. Drink this if you want to smile.
