Man. Were the hills on fire in 2016? This tastes like liquid smoke taint! By far the smokiest wine I think I've ever had. Chalky and tannic, but without any bitterness. Good acidity carries it long, long. It's rather young and will probably really shine in a few years, but still a great encounter now for its wayward, wild child qualities. I love how Pax makes such original and unique Syrah's. And also nice that they're lower alcohol. Cool encounter! (92 pts.)
