TNs: '13 PYCM St. Aubin Chateniére, '06 Taittinger Comtes

2013 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Saint-Aubin 1er Cru La Chatenière - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru (7/18/2020)
We drank this over two nights. The first night, it was dominated by reductive match strike aromas. Still nice if you like that style. The sulfur faded quite a bit after a night sealed in the refrigerator. Crisp lemons, pears and minerals. If you have it, decant a while; it needs plenty of air, or maybe a copper penny.

2006 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut - France, Champagne (7/18/2020)
I actually liked this particular bottle more than a recent '02 and '04, although I’d have to try them side-by-side to accurately compare. This was one of my best bottles yet, though it’s hard to improve on my former experiences with this wine. It’s one of the most luscious, ambrosial champagnes I’ve opened. I love the generous nose and palate, the glycerine mouthfeel, the interplay between the dense fruit, acidic cut and faultless bead.
